Anti-hype AI framing
AI may assist with semantic processing, synthesis, transformation, comparison, drafting, and structured generation. It must not quietly become an unmonitored decision-maker.
The critique
Modern computational design often relies on black-box theater to hide weak systems engineering. Users are pushed into passive ingestion. The model is sold as an oracle. Agency shrinks.
The Rook & Ink standard
Every AI or computational workflow under this banner should meet three criteria:
- Deterministic containment. AI stays confined to data-pivoting, semantic processing, and synthesis inside explicit boundaries. It is never an unmonitored decision-maker.
- Transparent architecture. The pipeline exposes how variables are weighted, where data is indexed, and how outputs are derived.
- Agency interleaving. The system features deliberate interception points where human judgment is invited, prioritized, and structurally required.
Failure honesty
Uncertainty, stale information, missing sources, and inferred facts should be labeled. If the system cannot show its levers, it is not ready to claim competence.
